Written documentation is great, video documentation is even greater.

Currently in our User Guide we list 10 video tutorials about XWiki usage (from page editing, revisions history to wiki configuration). These videos have been created by two community members and they are present on their individual YouTube channels. The last contribution was in 2015, so the project went through a lot of changes meanwhile and the videos would need some love. Some other videos links are listed also on the instance local Help application.

It would be great to:

  • create a plan of what videos our users would need in order to facilitate their first time usage;
  • create a template for the video's structure;
  • decide if the videos should be independent or part of a serie;
  • decide if we create tutorial, trainings or presentational videos for features or usage flows;
  • decide if we should create a dedicated community channel for the videos or just manage a playlist;
  • and after having a plan, even creating videos that our users can consult.

Videos have become the standard way in which users are evaluating and looking for help when they get into an issue. We need help in guiding our users in their first steps in creating and organising their knowledge.
