sdumitriu - (01:25): cjdelisle`: Busy?
cjdelisle` - (01:31): nope
sdumitriu - (01:33): Can you help me with something? Try using the 3.3.2 version of Hibernate http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/hibernate/hibernate-core/ and run this query:
cjdelisle` - (01:33): ...?
sdumitriu - (01:34): #foreach($r in $xwiki.search("select cast(act.date as date), act.page, max(act.date) from ActivityEventImpl as act group by cast(act.date as date), act.page order by 3 desc", 30, 0))
cjdelisle` - (01:35): What is it complaining about?
sdumitriu - (01:35): It fails because it doesn't know the type of the cast result
sdumitriu - (01:35): Which should be already fixed http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/hibernate/browse/HHH-592
sdumitriu - (01:36): But doesn't work with our current 3.2.6
cjdelisle` - (01:37): How does 3.3.2 work with XWiki?
cjdelisle` - (01:37): Are there any major issues to face when upgrading?
sdumitriu - (01:38): It's split into more modules
sdumitriu - (01:38): I think you need to use another module for caching and one for connection pooling as well
sdumitriu - (01:39): Pick from here http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/hibernate/
cjdelisle` - (01:40): To implement multiple databases in postgres we'll have to be able to have multiple pools.
jvelo joined #xwiki at 01:43
cjdelisle` - (02:05): I got to get to bed. Wild guess is that something is up with the "group by cast(act.date as date)" since that has to be done in the database.
cjdelisle` - (02:05): I'll look at it again tomorrow.

sburjan - (11:15): vmassol: I have a question. I want to finish the patch for IRCbot. And regarding the translation for the LiveTable I did on xwiki.org. Is there any way to import a XAR that has a translations page and that page to be added automatically to the rights page ? Is there a backend mechanism that does that for imported XAR's ?
sburjan - (11:16): because if the user has to add the Translations page to Rights, that is too much and we loose the "upload->import->install" .. and I'd rather not do it in this case
vmassol - (11:17): sburjan: not right now
vmassol - (11:17): ATM it's part of the installation instructions
sburjan - (11:17): okay. so I won't do it. Too much trouble to get a LivePage header look nice
sburjan - (11:17): *LiveTable
vmassol - (11:18): errr?
vmassol - (11:18): please add the translation page
vmassol - (11:18): if the user doesn't add it it doesn't matter
sburjan - (11:18): okay
sburjan - (11:18): if you want it, I'll add it
vmassol - (11:18): you won't have nice headers in any case
vmassol - (11:19): personally I wouldn't have added translations at all

jvelo - (16:00): apparently there is a perf issue on the host xwiki.org is running

vmassol - (19:04): the rename?
vmassol - (19:04): that doesn't answer the issue for the reader though

jvelo - (19:10): I'd say we keep reviewing, this way we
jvelo - (19:10): will see if we have other such cases
jvelo - (19:13): vmassol, hum... the charting plugin refers Macros.ChartingSamples which is a page with charting examples, but is not a macros really

jvelo - (20:57): vmassol, spotted two issues with the import script. One is that some downloads where not slurped properly from the original download pages. Those are download pages for which only the documentname has been precised inthe original extension page (instaead of the full name like Macro.MyMacroDownload) - I think mostly Ludovic was doing that. I have setup a quick fix UI at ExtensionCode.FixDownloads where you can pass original download pa

cjdelisle` - (21:04): ^that is returning the "no such template" page but since the server forces mime type by extension, the firefox is forced to try to read that as an image.
sdumitriu - (21:05): Which means that the image is 0 bytes long
sdumitriu - (21:06): Although http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Reader+Application?viewer=attachments says it has 21kb
sdumitriu - (21:06): Which means that the attachment content is missing
lucaa1 - (21:08): hi guys, I was looking at the fix we did for XWIKI-5063
lucaa1 - (21:08): and I noticed that the behaviour is, if the title fails to render properly, to get the title from the content (first heading).
lucaa1 - (21:09): I think this is wrong from a semantic pov, we should return the non-rendered title as a title, in that case, because the document _has a title_
cjdelisle` - (21:09): jvelo, wwhen you get a chance can you tell me exactly how you did the copy?
lucaa1 - (21:10): especially in the case of an ending # or ending $ (in which case the velo parser fails miserably), this is usually on purpose
lucaa1 - (21:10): like "Number of $" or "Issues #" so the title should be the user inserted title and not the first heading
lucaa1 - (21:11): wdyt?

mbryant left at 21:46 (Quit: KVIrc 4.0.2 Insomnia http://www.kvirc.net/
cjdelisle` - (21:48): My little theory on why they are all 8192bytes is that the server file IO hanged and the attachments could only save to memory. When a fileitem becomes larger than 10k it is persisted to the disk. Because the buffers used for copying were 4096b, the attachments all stopped at 8192.
vmassol - (21:48): cjdelisle`: there's probably a bug when a failure happens on the path somewhere
vmassol - (21:49): (yep something like that)
vmassol - (21:49): since you introduced disk io, that's a new point of failure so we need to handle potential sync issues
cjdelisle` - (21:50): It is indeed a bug in terms of not being ACID but it is not a huge regression blocking copying of documents.
cjdelisle` - (21:50): Perhaps it should be checking that the data is actually saved.

jvelo - (21:54): just the name / abbr. ?
vmassol - (21:54): LGPL by default?
jvelo - (21:55): for supported either nothing either LGPL yes
florinciu joined #xwiki at 21:55
vmassol - (21:55): jvelo: or we point to the main XWiki license page when "supported"
jvelo - (21:56): yes
vmassol - (21:56): http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/License
vmassol - (21:56): ok modifyig sheet to explain this
jvelo - (21:56): there's a bug with the tag filtering on the livetable on home page BTW. The "watch" tag is always selected, I don't know why
vmassol - (21:59): jvelo: is it ok like this: http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Charting+Plugin ?
jvelo - (22:00): why not license: license
jvelo - (22:00): ?
jvelo - (22:00): :)
vmassol - (22:00): aha
jvelo - (22:00): maybe you can add LGPL after
jvelo - (22:00): like
jvelo - (22:00): XWiki's Project License (LGPL)
vmassol - (22:00): well not
jvelo - (22:00): otherwise we can believe it has its own license
vmassol - (22:00): that's the point
jvelo - (22:00): it's strange
vmassol - (22:01): the idea is that the license is controlled by that page
jvelo - (22:01): or
vmassol - (22:01): so you change it in only one place
jvelo - (22:01): or you can say See XWiki Projects License page
vmassol - (22:01): so if we change to LGPL 3 for ex
jvelo - (22:01): or something in that spirit
vmassol - (22:01): we don't need to change everywhere
jvelo - (22:01): yes I see the point
jvelo - (22:02): but right now until you click it feels a bit like XWiki Projects has its own license
vmassol - (22:03): jvelo: I think we need the contributor on the home page in the LT
vmassol - (22:03): (either "XWiki Dev Team" or the contributor if not supported by the xwiki dev team)
vmassol - (22:03): wdyt?
vmassol - (22:04): (I'd like to encourage contributions)
jvelo - (22:04): need some tuning of the LT but yes
vmassol - (22:04): or
jvelo - (22:04): I can try and do that tomorrow
vmassol - (22:04): but the LT is going to feel crowded no?
vmassol - (22:04): we could also have a left panel with Top Contributors
vmassol - (22:04): same as on l10n
vmassol - (22:05): or both
jvelo - (22:07): vmassol, or both
jvelo - (22:07): yes
vmassol - (22:08): jvelo: I'm just worried by the crowdiness of the LT if we add too many columns
jvelo - (22:08): yes
jvelo - (22:08): we need to shorten dates
vmassol - (22:08): yes
jvelo - (22:09): + add ratings
vmassol - (22:09): yes that would be nice
jvelo - (22:09): and that would be all I guess ?
jvelo - (22:09): (including contributor maybe_
jvelo - (22:09): )
vmassol - (22:09): a good start
jvelo - (22:10): ah it seems the bug with livetable filtering disappeared !
jvelo - (22:10): (tag filtering / watch tag_
jvelo - (22:10): cool
jvelo - (22:10): divine intervention I think
vmassol - (22:12): hehe
vmassol - (22:12): I wish I had fixed it
vmassol - (22:12): you'd have called me "divine" :)
cjdelisle` - (22:15): I think I have cleaned up after myself. searched for where doc.name like 'Test%'

sdumitriu - (23:04): cjdelisle`: Any luck with the Hibernate upgrade?
cjdelisle` - (23:04): I didn't even look at that today. I spent the whole day making sure there wasn't a critical regression in attachments.
cjdelisle` - (23:05): and visiting with my mom.
cjdelisle` - (23:05): You say that hibernate has to be upgraded in order for the cast function to work?

sdumitriu - (23:14): No, I'm saying that a Hibernate upgrade MIGHT fix the issue
sdumitriu - (23:14): But I'm not sure of that
cjdelisle` - (23:15): Maybe the thing to do is try running the query at the sql level. If we can't cast TIMESTAMP to DAT
cjdelisle` - (23:15): E then hibernate won't be able to either
sdumitriu - (23:15): I did
sdumitriu - (23:16): It works in mysql, although the query fails in mysql
sdumitriu - (23:16): No
sdumitriu - (23:16): It works in mysql, although the query fails in hibernate over mysql
cjdelisle` - (23:17): I don't understand the bug which you linked, if that blocks your use case then it means that cast() is broken entirely.
sdumitriu - (23:18): This has to do with Raluca's mail
sdumitriu - (23:18): [xwiki-devs] [Activity Stream Plugin][Proposal] Modify or depricate searchUniquePages() method
sdumitriu - (23:18): "What searchUniquePages() method should actually return is the list of unique pages GROUPED and ordered BY DAY."
sdumitriu - (23:19): Group by day means using only the date part of event.date, droping the time information
sdumitriu - (23:19): This can be done in four ways
sdumitriu - (23:20): 1. Use year(), month(), day() in the query, which works, but is not so good for performance
sdumitriu - (23:20): 2. Use cast(evt.date as date) which apparently doesn't work in the version of hibernate we're using
sdumitriu - (23:21): 3. Use date(evt.date) which works in mysql, but not in the version of hibernate dialect for hsqldb that we're using
sdumitriu - (23:21): 4. Store the date in the activity stream as well, which means duplicate data in the database
cjdelisle` - (23:21): re #2. You upgraded and it still didn't work, am I correct?
sdumitriu - (23:21): For the moment I think the fastest implementation is 1
sdumitriu - (23:22): No, I didn't upgrade
sdumitriu - (23:22): I was delegating to you this :D
cjdelisle` - (23:22): Ok. Then I'll get it now. I didn't know.
cjdelisle` - (23:22): Thought you were looking for more eyes on the problem.
cjdelisle` - (23:23): Also i wanted to prove to myself that it really couldn't be made to wirk with the current version.
sdumitriu - (23:24): Also there's another thing
sdumitriu - (23:25): Fred Toussi suggests using Hibernate 3.6.0
sdumitriu - (23:25): Which isn't in the central repo, but in http://repository.jboss.org/nexus/content/groups/public/
