09:02 <vmassol> sburjan`: good morning
09:03 <mflorea> Good morning guys. We have a strange issue on xwiki-enterprise-text-extension. XWikiServletContextListener fails to find the default ObservationManager and CM fails because with "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class java.util.Formatter"
09:03 <mflorea> I can reproduce locally
09:03 <vmassol> interesting
09:05 <mflorea> XWikiSerlvetContextListener calls CM for ObservationManager, CM fails and tries to log the exception but String.format fails because of java.util.Formatter

09:12 <sburjan`> hello vmassol
09:13 <vmassol> sburjan`: nothing actually, I was wondering if the skin at space level was busted or not but it's probably just that the guy used a non existing skin
09:13 <tmortagne> Denis: Hi
09:13 <tmortagne> any idea what would cause what's described on "Failed migration from 3.0 to 4.3.1" on mailing list
09:13 <tmortagne> looks like there is also another mail with the same issue
09:13 <sburjan`> vmassol: I'm sure the guy didn't knew we removed toucan. I've updated the documentation
09:14 <tmortagne> "Upgrading from XWiki Enterprise 2.3 to 4.4"
09:14 <vmassol> guys, am I right in saying that on a farm, the only way to install pages that require PR is with a global user that has PR? And even when installing a backup pack (if the user is XWiki.Admin - ie local admin) the pages will not get PR
09:15 <tmortagne> vmassol: well it depends user is supposed to be xwiki:XWiki.Admin in most of ours xar now
09:16 <tmortagne> so ackup pack should work too
09:16 <tmortagne> as long as it's done with a user who have PR
09:16 <vmassol> tmortagne: that's provided such a user exists
09:16 <tmortagne> sure
09:16 <vmassol> for example on myxwiki.org do we have it? checking
09:16 <tmortagne> that's that does not have anything to do with subwikis
09:16 <tmortagne> I think we have it
09:17 <tmortagne> by anyway yes we have an issue with PR for any subwiki admin that want to upgrade his wiki
09:17 <vmassol> yes there's one: http://myxwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/XWiki/Admin
09:18 <tmortagne> if you don't have PR you are not supposed to have the right to import as backup pack
09:18 <tmortagne> it used to be that way, hope it's still the case
09:18 <vmassol> hmm really, didn't know that
09:18 <vmassol> what happens?
09:18 <vmassol> an error?
09:18 <vmassol> you're not shown the option?
09:18 <tmortagne> don't remember, I think you are not supposed to see the option yes
09:19 <vmassol> so for myxwiki.org users cannot actually upgrade their wikis?
09:20 <tmortagne> not all the pages yes but most of the pages that require PR to work at all are for wrong reason
09:21 <tmortagne> requiring PR to display an index of pages is a bug
09:21 <vmassol> well it's pretty sreious since the home page will bug
09:21 <vmassol> since the Activity page requires PR
09:21 <tmortagne> the home page require PR ?
09:21 <AndreasJonsson> From Package.Import: boolean backup = this.backupPack && isFarmAdmin(context);
09:22 <vmassol> yep through Main.Activity
09:22 <tmortagne> seriously...
09:22 <tmortagne> we are not supposed to have any page requiring PR in XE and we make it worst
09:22 <vmassol> AndreasJonsson: ok, so it'll seem to work but won't in practice?
09:22 <vmassol> tmortagne: we've always had for a long time, this is not new
09:22 <vmassol> we even have a marker for these pages
09:23 <vmassol> so it's not like we didn't know… :)
09:23 <tmortagne> vmassol: it does not make it good
09:23 <tmortagne> the home page was not requiring PR before
09:23 <vmassol> sure but it makes myxwiki.org unusable to upgrade
09:23 <vmassol> the home page doesn't require PR
09:23 <tmortagne> so we keeping adding new PR pages
09:23 <vmassol> but Main.Activity does
09:23 <vmassol> thus breaking the home page
09:23 <tmortagne> it's the same
09:24 <AndreasJonsson> vmassol: no isFarmAdmin means admin rights on main wiki. For admins of subwikis, the backup flag is cleared.
09:24 <vmassol> AndreasJonsson: you mean they cannot sleect the option?
09:25 <vmassol> or the option is discarded if selected?
09:25 <AndreasJonsson> I don't know if they can select the option, but it will be cleared if they can.
09:25 <vmassol> ok
09:25 <vmassol> thanks
09:28 <vmassol> ok guys I've just replied to the thread "No Activity Stream"
09:28 <vmassol> if you could verify that what I've said is correct that would be great
09:28 <vmassol> this seems really worse than I thought initially
09:30 <sburjan`> tmortagne: the failing migration is on MS SQL, it might be the cause ?
09:30 <sburjan`> since we're not supporting it
09:30 <tmortagne> sburjan`: he gets a message saying that migration are disabled
09:30 <tmortagne> if true then the message is at least very bad
09:31 <tmortagne> and anyway I don't think we have any test for some officially supportedl database at this leve
09:31 <sburjan`> nope, not yet
09:32 <tmortagne> so there is a bug for sure or something very weird in the configuration if you get a message telling you you did not enabled migration when you enabled it

10:03 <vmassol> one good news about all the xwiki.org restarts is that the bot works quite well and restarts well by itself :)

10:06 <vmassol> normally playground messages are gone and I've temporarily removed broken links (I need to work more on it, it seems to stop working after the first hits)
10:06 <vmassol> hmm no luck :)
10:10 <vmassol> it seems it's honoring only the first exclude
10:10 <vmassol> debugging
10:12 <vmassol> guys, are we ready to release 4.5M1 today?
10:12 <vmassol> I feel that we should release it, even with the existing blockers: http://jira.xwiki.org/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?reset=true&jqlQuery=resolution+%3D+Unresolved+and+priority+%3D+Blocker+and+category+%3D+%22Top+Level+Projects%22+and+issue+not+in+%28%22XCOMMONS-324%22%29
10:13 <vmassol> wdyt?
10:13 <vmassol> we also need to fix the max blockers for Monday when we're supposed to release 4.4.1 (sending email about that one, I had forgotten)
10:18 <vmassol> mail sent
10:19 <vmassol> ahah could be very nice for us: http://www.clahub.com/

11:34 <vmassol> tmortagne: just rebuilt XE, started it and went to the EM UI
11:34 <vmassol> it fails
11:35 <vmassol> http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=mWUKSL1p
11:35 <vmassol> maybe it's what mflorea just reported
11:36 <vmassol> or xwiki.org is down....
11:36 <vmassol> yeah seems that's the case...
11:36 <tmortagne> Caused by: java.io.IOException: Invalid answer (503) fo the server when requesting
11:37 <tmortagne> yes xwiki.org issue it seems
11:37 <mflorea> vmassol: yes, it's not the same issue, the server started in your case
11:37 <tmortagne> also what mflorea reported is an issue in the repository module which is not part of XE
11:37 <vmassol> ok
11:38 <mflorea> yes, that's why only extensions tests are having the problem
11:38 <vmassol> ok better now

13:02 <wikinewbie> Sorry to bother folks, but can I ask some really stupid questions? Am working on an event listener and really a bit stuck.
13:02 <vmassol> sure, I'm having lunch right now so I may be slow ;)

13:59 <vmassol> tmortagne: the "install on farm" button is only visible when you're on the main wiki right? And compared to "install on wiki" the difference is only that components are registered against the root cm right?
13:59 <tmortagne> vmassol: for jar yes, for xar it means it's installed everywhere and when a wiki is created it's automatically installed there too etc
14:00 <vmassol> ah hmm had forgotten that part
14:00 <vmassol> so there's no way to have the ui installed only on a wiki and have the components in the root cm?
14:00 <tmortagne> not if you install them all in the same install job
14:00 <tmortagne> but you can install them separately
14:01 <vmassol> ok that's an issue for my use case then
